2020 State of Charlotte Housing Virtual Summit

 

Join us for the second annual State of Charlotte Housing Virtual Summit was held on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

This virtual event addressed the analysis of the State of Housing in Charlotte report and include a comprehensive inventory of the current housing stock, an analysis of housing affordability across all income levels and a higher-level comparison of the Charlotte regional housing market. The presentation was followed by two panel discussions and Q&As.

Meet the Speakers

Dr. Yongqiang Chu

Director of Childress Klein Center for Real Estate and Childress Klein Distinguished Professor of Real Estate and Urban Economics

Yongqiang Chu conducts research in real estate, corporate finance, and banking. His research has appeared in many top finance, real estate, and economics journals, including Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Economic Dynamics, and Real Estate Economics. Chu obtained his bachelor’s degree from Peking University, his master’s degree from National University of Singapore, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining UNC Charlotte, he was an associate professor at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business.

Explore past Housing Summit Series events.

This inaugural event took place on Thursday, February 21, 2019, and included a presentation of the State of Housing in Charlotte report, two panel discussions on single- and multi-family markets and concluded with a reception.

As a follow up to the Summit on the State of housing, this event  was held Wednesday, April 24, 2019. This new event addressed Charlotte's housing policy implications based on the analysis discussed in the  State of Housing in Charlotte report and summit.

          

virtual update on the state of housing in the Charlotte-metro area was held on Thursday, July 23, 2020.

This presentation included a detailed analysis of the COVID-19 effect on the city's single-family housing market.
