Belk College to offer dual-degree economics program with Copenhagen Business School

The Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte and the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark are collaborating on a new master's degree program in economics.

Graduates of the program will receive both an M.S. in Economics with an Economics/Finance concentration from UNC Charlotte and an M.S. in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School. Students will spend one academic year in each location.

The UNC Charlotte degree is designed for students seeking careers in banking or other financial institutions, as well as positions with regulatory bodies dealing with financial markets.

The CBS degree provides students with a solid understanding of finance, macroeconomics, and industrial economics. Students completing the dual degree program are prepared for analytical and management positions that require an international perspective and an ability to integrate economic analysis and advanced quantitative methods.

"The dual degree program will provide students with an unparallel opportunity to experience two unique economic systems," said Alan Shao, associate dean for professional and global business programs. "Graduates of the program will be amply prepared to handle the intricacies of the global business environment."

Copenhagen Business School is an internationally recognized and accredited urban institution located close to the heart of Denmark’s capital. It is one of the largest business schools in Northern Europe with more than 15,000 students. CBS offers world-class research-based programs and has partnerships with other universities, enterprises, organizations, and a select group of companies which provide opportunities to join knowledge development with students and researchers.

The Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte, accredited by AACSB International, offers outstanding business education programs in a variety of disciplines. Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States and one of the most exciting financial services centers in the world.
