Parking: There are a number of pay-to-park options within walking distance of The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City.  

  • Seventh Street Parking Deck is a short walk through First Ward Park. Visitors can pay to park by the hour.
  • Additional pay-to-park options can be found on the Preferred Parking website. The closest of these is 422 E 9th Street on the corner of 9th and Brevard Street. Other nearby lots are at 8th and College, 9th and College and 9th and Tryon. There are metered spaces on Brevard and 8th Street to pay during the day. These meters are free after 6 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends. 
  • To park at the 422 E. 9th Street gravel lot, you will need to download the park mobile app, pick zone #96422, and put the space number. There is no pay station in this lot. 

Light Rail: Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of light rail options when visiting The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City. Our building is a half a block from the 9th Street Station. Free parking is available at nine of the eleven light rail Park and Ride locations. Sugar Creek Station and Scaleybark Park and Ride locations are the closest to 9th Street Station. Standard CATS rates apply.

  • Anne Marie DeCatsye, Esq., has been chief executive officer of Canopy Realtor® Association since February 1, 2001.  Canopy Realtor® Association operates and manages Canopy MLS, Canopy Real Estate Institute and Canopy Housing Foundation. Prior to her appointment as CEO, she was general counsel for the association for seven months. From 1995-2000, she served as deputy executive director of the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC), a Charlotte-area trade association with broad membership engaged in sales, building, development, finance, management and leasing of real estate.
  • Fred Dodson, Jr. is the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of DreamKey Partners Inc., where he manages the organization’s real estate development and construction activities. Fred started his work with DreamKey in 1997 and has helped the organization develop nearly 3,000 units of affordable rental and for-sale housing. Before joining DreamKey, he directed the Hospitality House of Boone, a North Carolina homeless shelter, the New River Valley Habitat for Humanity Affiliate, and the Montgomery County Community Shelter in Virginia. Mr. Dodson earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Appalachian State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
  • Yates Dunaway is the Senior Vice President of Multifamily at Crosland Southeast. He is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and managing market-rate multifamily development and acquisition opportunities for Crosland Southeast. Prior to joining Crosland Southeast, Yates was a Principal with TriBridge Residential, an Atlanta-based owner, developer, and operator of market-rate apartments throughout the Southeast. While at TriBridge, Yates led investments in North and South Carolina, while also covering North and Central Florida. Yates began his real estate career in Chicago with Greenfield Partners, a manager of opportunistic real estate funds.

The 2022 State of Housing in Charlotte Summit, in its fourth year, brought developers, government officials, and community stakeholders together for an exclusive first look at the "2022 State of Housing in Charlotte Report," which details:

  • A comprehensive inventory of the current housing stock
  • An analysis of housing affordability across all income levels
  • A high-level comparison of the Charlotte regional housing market
  • A comprehensive look at owner-occupied, rental, and subsidized housing in the eight-county Charlotte region
  • How the market has changed since the first State of Housing Report in 2019

The third summit, held virtually on Nov. 17, 2021, opened with a presentation on "The 2021 State of Housing in Charlotte Report" by Dr. Yongqiang Chu, director of the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate, and was followed by an industry panel discussion followed.

"The 2021 State of Housing in Charlotte Report," which was released during the summit, includes a comprehensive inventory of the current housing stock, an analysis of housing affordability across all income levels, and a high-level comparison of the Charlotte regional housing market. Part of a multi-year CKCRE research project first announced in 2019, the report provides a comprehensive look at owner-occupied, rental and subsidized housing in the eight-county Charlotte region: Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Union counties in North Carolina, and Lancaster and York counties in South Carolina.

The second annual State of Charlotte Housing Summit was presented on October 29, 2020.

This virtual event addressed the analysis of the State of Housing in Charlotte report and include a comprehensive inventory of the current housing stock, an analysis of housing affordability across all income levels and a higher-level comparison of the Charlotte regional housing market.

A virtual update on the state of housing in the Charlotte-metro area was held on July 23, 2020.

This presentation included a detailed analysis of the COVID-19's impact on the region's single-family housing market. 

After overwhelming support from the Charlotte community, the Charlotte Housing Policy Summit was held on April 24, 2019. This event addressed Charlotte's housing policy implications based on the analysis discussed in the “State of Housing in Charlotte” report. The Childress Klein Center for Real Estate is proud to continue sharing the annual housing study research and facilitating housing discussions through the Housing Summit Series. This annual series will focus on Housing Finance, Housing Policy and Housing Research provided by the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate.
