Graduate student orientation features energy panel

New graduate students attending orientation in the Belk College learn about more than just course schedules, bookstore hours and career development workshops. They also have the opportunity to hear from executives and experts in some of the top industries in the region while networking with fellow students and faculty.

At the fall 2013 orientation, the spotlight was on energy. The industry has become a major focus for UNC Charlotte through initiatives like EPIC (Energy Production and Infrastructure Center) and the new MBA concentration in Energy (a collaboration between the Belk College and the Lee College of Engineering).

Moderated by Ronak Bhatt, principal advisor at RIN Advisors, the panel consisted of:

  • Johan Enslin, director of EPIC and professor of power system engineering, UNC Charlotte
  • Peter Schwarz, professor of Economics, Belk College of Business, UNC Charlotte
  • Janice Hager, VP of integrated resource planning and regulated analytics, Duke Energy
  • Lisa Lee Morgan, president and CEO, Calor Energy
  • Randy Lucas, ,rincipal, Lucas Tax + Energy Consulting

Classes at UNC Charlotte begin on Monday, Aug. 19.
